How to get here

The Insitute for Mathematical Stochastics (IMS) and the Center for Statistics (ZfS) are located at the north campus in the Goldschmidtstraße 7, D-37077 Göttingen, click here.

The two institutes

  • MI:  Mathematical Institute, Bunsenstraße 3-5, D-37073 Göttingen
  • NAM:  Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics, Lotzestraße 16-18, D-37073 Göttingen

are situated at the south area of Göttingen. In the building of the Mathematical Insitute, there also is located the deanery of the department for Mathematics and Informatics. You can there as follows.

With the train to the station Göttingen:   Search for a train connection here.

By foot from the station Göttingen:

For the way by foot you can calculate about 15-20 minutes from the station to the two institutes.

Leave the station in the direction of "Zentrum" (Centre). Turn right and follow the road ("Berliner Straße"). Cross the next big junction and follow the road further ahead ("Bürgerstraße"). The forth street to the right is the Bunsenstraße, the building of the MI is the corner building at the left side. To get to the Insitute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics, follow the ürgerstraße further and turn off in the Lotzestraße one street later. The building of the NAM is located at the next junction (corner "Böttingerstraße").

With the bus from the station Göttingen:

Leave the station in the direction of "Zentrum" (Centre), to your right the bus terminal (ZOB) is located.

The bus route 4 directly goes from bay D to the Mathematical Institute and to the Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics. The bus hourly goes to the times x.28 and x.58. It takes 8 minutes to go the station "Walkemühlenweg". The bus route 12 hourly goes from bay D to the times x.25 and x.55. It takes only 3 mintes to go to the station "Bürgerstrasse".

With the car:

With the car, you can reach the Mathematical Institute and the Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics by the autobahn (expressway) A7. You leave the autobahn at the exit No. 73 Göttingen/Dransfeld (not Göttingen North!) in direction Centre. When you always stay at the right lane, after 3km (ca. 1.8 miles) you will cross the Leine and you will go through a railway underpass. After that, you immediately turn right into the Bürgerstraße.

Depending on whether you want to go to the Mathematical Institute or to the Institute for Numerical and Applied Mathematics, you turn right at the fourth respectively fifth possibility (Lotzestraße).
